Trump Organization Attempted to Hire Almost 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the identical, a report released Thursday stated.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the business aimed to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas covering staff including servers, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever filed by the organization, and up from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that the former president had sought to bring in more than 100 foreign employees for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, based on labor statistics.

The revelation coincides with a tightening on immigration laws by his administration that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; extra scrutiny of the activities of the millions of people who possess US visas; and tighter regulations for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the Trump Organization sought to hire 566 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was questioned by certain in the GOP this week for comments justifying the need for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill particular roles.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to spend billions to construct a plant, and going to take people off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It isn’t feasible that well,” he told a host after it was implied that foreign workers lower the pay of American employees.

The White House declined a inquiry for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
