Following weeks of suspense, schemes and sabotage, Celebrity Traitors has reached a nail-biting finale
Spoiler alert - This article discloses key moments from Celebrity Traitors conclusion
Over the course of the show, audiences saw eliminations, betrayals, serious side-eye, and an unforgettable incident that cut through all tension.
However on the final evening, the final winner of the inaugural celebrity edition emerged triumphant.
Out of 19 contestants, just a handful were left standing: Traitors and faithfuls facing off for the prize.
Soon, the competition tightened to only three contenders: the remaining contestants.
In the end, funny man Alan Carr was crowned the champion, in a surprising result that went viral and left him emotional.
"It's been tearing me apart, my apologies," he exclaimed, revealing to the remaining faithfuls that he'd always been a traitor. "I feel terrible about this."
"You did brilliantly," they consoled him. "Everything's fine."
Online platforms immediately exploded with this development. "The worst deceiver being the best traitor ever," commented one user.
"There could not have been a better conclusion," stated another, while someone else described it as "the TV moment of the year."
The organization he selected, Neuroblastoma UK, gets to keep all the prize money, with the final pot reaching £87,500.
Alan Carr's transformation from comic relief to strategic player was one of the standout highlights of the season.
But his win still shocked viewers in shock, as noted by industry observers.
"The idea of Alan, among everyone, pulling off an expert performance in deception felt about as likely as him maintaining a straight face through his comedy routines."
On subsequent discussions, the other contestants explained the reasons nobody had truly doubted him.
"He might have appeared to the morning meal in traitor attire and I still wouldn't have thought he was deceiving us. His humor distracted me," one participant said.
"The majority didn't target him because how can you vote for a person so loveable?" asked a different contestant.
Carr said he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his experience with the program.
"I want to participate once more... I doubt it would work again!"
The final installment was extended to 70 minutes on television. There was an unusual opening than typical episodes, as every celebrity were aware who'd make it at the breakfast table.
Viewers heard particularly inspiring, and very un-Traitors-esque soundtrack, as we recapped key scenes from each of the finalists' experience in the game.
True to form, Alan Carr provided unforgettable quotes.
"To be honest, I began the competition as something of a nervous wreck. I've betrayed close allies under the bus, I've eliminated beloved figures in plain sight. I'm clearly more deceptive and traitor than I believed."
Meanwhile, a different player commented that reaching the conclusion was "significantly more pressure than competing with a national team", while another said he was "totally surprised" to have lasted this long.
Early on of the finale, several players seemed to be attempting to become the new style icon of the competition, taking over from the previously eliminated fashionable contestant.
Carr emerged at the morning meal looking like a vintage television personality in a checked maroon suit, later switching into a bejewelled white suit.
But he was out-jacketted by another contestant's maroon velvet tuxedo. Impressive style.
Next up was the competition, with the remaining contestants boarding a train named - of course - The Deceivers' Railway.
This task involved ripping up portraits of eliminated players. Spare a thought for one participant who managed to get hit on the head THREE times by the cover of a substantial container.
Before long, the moment arrived for the roundtable.
Two traitors made a pact beforehand, vowing to stick together. "We've come a long way, I'm not going to throw him under a bus," stated a player, while the other simply laughed.
However, one adhered to his promise. But, managing to stay unnoticed for the majority of the competition, their partner still got the most votes.
The last deceiver looked like he was in significant distress to be the final deceiver remaining. "Now I'm on my own, I feel terrified," he said. "I'm a loose cannon, a rudderless ship."
Social media and viewers were similarly upset.
"I did NOT want this contestant to be banished. A truly loveable traitor," commented a commentator.
"Your legacy will remain in Traitors history," posted another user.
But there was no time to focus on this departure. Soon, they were at the final stage - this being what we were really all here for.
The final four gathered around the fire pit. And the alliance broke down, precisely when it mattered the most, in an absolutely shocking development.
A player was eliminated in dramatic fashion - following a surprising decision from their partner, who turned against them.
"This pains me to be stabbed in the back last minute in that manner," said the eliminated player. Subsequently, we learned that when they message, the eliminated contestant calls the other by a betrayer's name.
Ultimately, just three players were still competing: the last participants.
One player, appearing quite pleased, chose to conclude the game. So did another, and it all came down to the third, who did the same - which meant that the traitor emerged victorious.
According to commentators, the moment where remaining contestants consoled the champion was "compelling television". "I predict it could be a contender for memorable moment at next year's awards," they said.
Fortunately, the champion soon recovered from his emotional outburst, and could finally appreciate his victory.
"Such an emotional journey. I thought I was terrible at deception, my expressions gave me away and here I am a winner," he said.
He also joked about that infamous murder - his close ally during the initial stages - by leaning toward the presenter in the final scene and making contact.
"You've got something on your face," he said, with his characteristic laugh.
The last few weeks of famous people scheming, plotting and sometimes surprising incidents may seem like a bizarre fantasy. Yet it actually occur. It will be remembered fondly.
